Did you know Flirt Urban Salon in San Diego now offers eyebrow waxing? Eyebrows are one of the biggest beauty trends right now. Well-shaped eyebrows are a beautiful accessory that can enhance your facial features and transform your daily makeup routine into a work of art.

Some of us struggle with shaping our brows at home. Over-plucking can lead to misshapen, spotty, thin brow lines. On the other hand, you may be trying to go au naturel, leaving your brows to grow wild and free. While thick eyebrows are totally in, you don’t want to end up looking like Groucho Marx.

Having your eyebrows waxed by an experienced waxing tech can give your brows beautiful shape and clean lines. Waxing your brows also lasts longer than tweezing or threading and leaves your skin feeling smoother and softer. If you’re ready to put your best brows forward and try waxing, below are a few things you should know before you head to our San Diego salon.

Brow Waxing Comes with a Brow Fill-In

At Flirt Urban Salon, brow waxing is performed by our in-house lash and waxing salon called Flutter & Honey. When you book a brow wax with Flutter & Honey, it comes with a complimentary brow fill-in (a super awesome bonus). If you would prefer to not have the fill-in service, just let us know.

Don’t Wax the Same Day as an Event

After waxing, the skin around your eyebrows will be red for a few hours, especially if you have sensitive skin. We typically recommend scheduling your wax about three days before any events so your skin has time to heal but you’ll still have those beautiful, freshly-shaped, picture-perfect brows.

Grow Before You Go

Your brow hairs need to be long enough for the wax to grab hold of. The ideal length is typically around 1/8th to 1/4th of an inch. It may be a little frustrating to wait a few weeks between appointments while your stray hairs are growing in, but it will make your waxing appointment much more worthwhile.

Know What Brow Shape You Want

The shape of your eyebrows can affect the way your entire face shape looks. Before your waxing tech begins working her magic, be sure to talk to her about the eyebrow shape you want. If you’re not sure what brow shapes work best with your facial shape, this is a good guide. And if it the face that needs to be worked upon, specifically the eyes and nose, then make a habit of applying a niacinamide cream.

Mention Your Medical Conditions

Let your waxer know If you’re on any medications, especially antibiotics, Accutane, isotretinoin, blood thinners, or topical creams such as Retin-A. Some of these medications may not be compatible with waxing. Also, if you have any skin conditions like psoriasis or Rosacea, get your doctor’s approval first. Lastly, if you have a sunburn, hold off on waxing until that has healed.

The More You Do It, The Less It Hurts

Your hairs will become softer, thinner, and more sparse the more often you wax. This also means it will hurt less each time you get waxed, because the hairs being removed won’t be as thick. Another benefit of your hair growing back slower is that you won’t have to get waxed as often, saving you a little money and time.
