I feel like whenever I finally have my hair routine figured out, something changes: I cut my hair, there’s a major weather change, or the worst of the bunch: my favorite products are discontinued. We’ve all been there – finding out your favorite product will be no longer and trying to find every last bottle in every last corner of the internet. Face it, sooner or later, you’re going to need to find something different to use.

So when my go-to products for curly haired clients were discontinued early this year, I was bummed. Luckily, Bumble and bumble promptly came out with a new line for curls, and I was excited to check it out. There are a total of 6 brand new curl products, but we’re going to start with the basics today. We’ll be follow up with some of our favorite curl combinations in an upcoming post.

Bb Curl Care Shampoo and Custom Conditioner

Bb curl reviewThis line claims to be infused with HydraSculpt Blend™, which is Bb speak for a cross-linking polymer that helps keep each curl hydrated and controlled. It also includes a Brazilian oil blend that includes Brazil nut oil, babassu oil, pracaxi oil, and capuacu butter to quench the thirst of your curls. It also contains UV inhibitors to help prevent your hair from the drying effects of the sun. Fear not: you won’t find any alcohol, parabens, sulfates, or phthalates. While the previous line of curl products were each geared towards different types of curls, these are not: they’re meant to take on many different types of curls, you’ll customize by the combination of products you use.

Bb curl reviewStarting with the basics: I love the smell of this line, it smells awesome, like that awesome Tommy Girl perfume you wore in the 7th grade (if you’re of a *ahem* certain age group, like me!)  I’d qualify this as a medium weight shampoo – gives a nice lather and rinses clean. It cleans well without leaving your hair feeling stripped and desperate for conditioner. Speaking of which, the conditioner is MAGIC! It’s designed to be used three different ways – as a standard post-shampoo conditioner, as a co-wash (conditioner-only wash, for you everyday washing folks), or as a leave in. This is really where the ‘for all types of curl’ holds especially true – depending on your hair, you may find the conditioner to be too heavy for a regular post-shampoo situation, but perfect to use as a leave-in. It will help smooth down your frizzy ends without weighing down your curls and making them limp.

Ask your Flirt stylist about the new Bb Curl products at your next appointment – we can try them out together to find the best combination for your curls. We took a class with an awesome Bb educator to learn the ins and outs of this new line, and we’re ready for whatever curls you bring us!
